As a 20 year old New Media designer, I would love the opportunity to learn more and experience so much knowledge in one place and listen to the great leaders of my industry. It is my passion to continue furthering myself so that one day I can be someone speaking at of these events, and teaching others about the ways of the web.
Thanks for the great blog,

Oct 18, 2009 at 2:33 am

…and this be my entry.

Oct 18, 2009 at 2:35 am

Thanks so much for posting this. I’m a NY based design technology consultant (mostly 3d for architects) and I’m doing more and more web work (Intranets with drupal and WP). Trained as an architects I was never really taught how to design for the web. Although I find designing for the web to be a lot like designing buildings, their is a lot of nuance and and this would be an amazing opportunity to learn by attending the FOWD conference.

Thanks again!!

I am 12 years old (turning 13 on Nov. 22 :P) and I read about the FOWD conference in Web Designer magazine. When I’m older, I want to own my own company and be a professional developer. It would huge opportunity to learn about where the WWW is going in the future.

I would love to be able to participate in an event with such known and excellent speakers…

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:08 am

Any opportunity to learn more about my trade is welcomed. Thanks for the chance to win.

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:09 am

I think it’d be pretty cool to hang out with some like-minded individuals and learn some tips from the pros.

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:10 am

I went to FOWA in Miami last year and learned about the programming side of things. It would be nice if I knew how to make these apps look good!

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:22 am

I work by myself (and with my clients), doing freelance web design and development – so I relish any chance to connect with fellow practitioners. Money is tight around here, I have no extra funds to do this sort of career development this year. Your free pass would change my situation. Thanks for the opportunity!

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:22 am

FOWD would be awesome! Great speakers. Would love to go…

Tom Jenkins
Oct 18, 2009 at 9:23 am

Having never attended a FOWD before, this is the perfect opportunity!

Oct 18, 2009 at 9:25 am

We’re a web development firm in London, Ontario (a quick trip to NYC). FOWA and FOWD are events that we’ve followed closely but haven’t had the time to attend. With the right catalyst (free tickets) we’ll have one of our best and brightest in NYC to learn and share.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Dale Cruse
Oct 18, 2009 at 9:39 am

Though I’ve been a full-time front-end website developer for many years, I always work to keep my skills and thinking fresh. Conferences like these are essential to my professional development but unfortunately, due to the current economic climate, I could not afford to attend without this free conference pass. If chosen, I would also Tweet constantly about what’s going on to share the information with as many as possible. Thank you for your consideration.

Oct 18, 2009 at 10:19 am

Wow sounds good! Nice opportunity for me to get in touch with this again!

Oct 18, 2009 at 10:27 am

I’d love to go to FOWD, it would really get the creative juices flowing. Thanks!

Oct 18, 2009 at 10:32 am

Oct 18, 2009 at 10:57 am

I’d really love to gather opinions on where the industry is headed, from future developments in technology with CSS3/HTML5, etc… to the ongoing evolution in web aesthetics! Thanks!

Oct 18, 2009 at 11:10 am

I’d love to go to FOWD to hear from the industry’s leading designers. I think that would help me break out of my design rut!

Oct 18, 2009 at 11:32 am

I am a freelancer, and this type of function is not in my wildest budget right now. I would love the opportunity to learn from some of the brightest in the field.

Amy Lacy
Oct 18, 2009 at 11:37 am

I work for a big company, designing for the corporate portal. We have had a freeze on any sort of conference or training for more than a year now. I follow design trends on the web, but yearn for more. With the strict guidelines we have to follow, it is challenging at times to create elegant design work. I would love to expand my repertoire and see what others are doing. I would happily come up with my own travel money and take vacation days in order to attend!

Oct 18, 2009 at 11:44 am

It would be great to win my my first trip to a web conference.

Oct 18, 2009 at 11:44 am

I am just about to launch a startup business and would have loved to budgeted this into my plans, but my funds only stretch so far, so winning a ticket would be a great opportunity.

A well designed/assessable front end is what I am aiming for and I think this conference would give me a chance to get my designs on track and avoid any pitfalls.

Jennifer Cristaldi
Oct 18, 2009 at 11:50 am

I’m the sole web designer/producer for a small company and do freelancing as well. Neither of my jobs has the budget to provide access to a conference like FOWD. I do my best to keep up with things on the web, but face to face interaction with leaders in the industry would be a fantastic opportunity.

Damian Zannini
Oct 18, 2009 at 11:59 am

I’m a design student, and I’m certain I would learn a lot from this conference!

Oct 18, 2009 at 12:47 pm

I should be given the pass because everyone else isn’t as cool as me.

Oct 18, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Joshua Rapp
Oct 18, 2009 at 2:25 pm

First off let me say, I would never pass up an opportunity to go to FOWD. Secondly, I would forever be grateful and in your debt for an opportunity such as this. Plus it would be nice to win something. ;)

Oct 18, 2009 at 3:31 pm

It’s NY and its FOWD. Who could pass the opportunity to hang with the biggest brains in the industry in the best city in the world?

Oct 18, 2009 at 3:39 pm

The more I see and hear about design for the web, the more I want to improve my understanding and make the best possible sites around. Being familiar with some of the presenters already, and knowing what a strong and current curriculum they have to offer is truly exciting and I’d love nothing more than the opportunity to go. Unfortunately the company I work for does not see the same amount of value in this always-be-learning type of activity as I do, and I cannot realistically afford to go on my own dime.

Winning these tickets would mean a lot to me. :)

Oct 18, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Oct 18, 2009 at 4:56 pm

I’ve never been to FOWD, so this would be a great opportunity for me to learn tons! Plus my in-laws live in NY, so I could spend some time with them.

Oct 18, 2009 at 4:57 pm

I just graduated from college, I am a Web Designer and Developer, I really would like to assist to FOWD and I think an opportunitty like this would be really a great opportunity to learn and gain some experience.

Chelsea Parker
Oct 18, 2009 at 7:33 pm

As we all know, the job market is getting to be more depressing than those ASPCA commercials with the Sarah McLachlan songs. And I’m smack dab in the middle of it as a recent college graduate who’s sent out 109 resumes and job applications in the past month (with no response), and who’s had to swallow my pride and move back in with my parents. So now, I’d do pretty much anything to break up the monotony of my everyday routine of spending 18 hrs a day trying to find employment.

(the gist: Getting the chance to go to FOWD would be a shining glimmer of hope to combat the dismal state of the job market’s effect on me.)

Plus, I’d love to get the chance to practice self-control by trying not to pee my pants in front of the likes of such an amazing collection of web design industry celebrities!

Whether I’m picked or not, thank you for the opportunity Nick, and for maintaining such a fantastic and inspirational collection of sites!

Osvaldo Gomez
Oct 18, 2009 at 8:18 pm

I’m entering in the business of web design and development I think FOWD would be a perfect start for me. I have seen few videos of their events before and helped me to understand a lot stuff about web design. It would be such an honor to attend in person to one of their events.

Oct 18, 2009 at 8:23 pm

I’m poor but have potential to be a great designer. Pick me and all your dreams will come true. Pedro needs your vote, too.

I’m a web designer and i have never been to FOWD! I’ve heard all the best about it and I would really love to be a part of it for once and hear the well-respected design masters workshop! also, it would be so great to meet with fellow designer! Thanks!

Oct 18, 2009 at 8:46 pm

I’d be great to get a change to go, heard of FOWD but never actually been to one.

Wow the FOWD thats amazing event. One of the best in the web design industry.

Oct 18, 2009 at 10:58 pm

Living in Brisbane I’ve never been to anything quite like FOWD, but not for want of trying, It’s just not exactly the home of web design conferences! Plus I’m in need of a trip abroad so this would be more than the motivation I need to dust off the passport.

Im a web developer and love NYC! web design and new technologies are my daily challenge! would love to participate on the event!!

Oct 19, 2009 at 2:25 am

I could preach about how i am poor, and how i am a great designer, but in reality we are all struggling, if you are an artist, it is pretty hard to survive on that alone. I do not have the funds to pay for tickets to things like FOWD, but would love to go, because i spend a majority of my life researching design and to better my design knowledge, along with skills. I do know a bit of programming, but would like to learn and progress. To have the opportunity to join the presents of leaders in our industry would be an honor and a delight.

cheers, and thanks for the chance to win tickets.

Oct 19, 2009 at 2:51 am

I like web design, I am clearly a *novator* in this field, but trust me I do learn fast! And where can you learn best? – of course, listen to the masters! So, would be great if I attend it!

Oct 19, 2009 at 3:09 am

I wish to attend forthwith because I want to eat food on a scale of which the likes my English stomach has never seen.

Oct 19, 2009 at 3:51 am

Living in a small country as Belgium is, I would love to get another approach on webdesign, and get influenced by all the things I ‘ll see.

Oct 19, 2009 at 4:01 am

I work for a large company in a small team of designers based in the UK. The marketing team for years have given us impossible deadlines to meet and this has compromised the quality and stifled our ideas. Now though things have started to change and the company is taking a more positive step towards making our sites more user friendly, web compliant and more pioneering too. With the extra time we now have i am looking to take some of my team forward and FOWD is a great place to start. I always feel re-energised after attending and am given ideas that really make a difference. I think it would really open our eyes and offer us a chance to step back from the clutter and see where we should be headed. Thanks

Oct 19, 2009 at 5:22 am

I would so love to join the conference ! I am allmost graduated web designer and starting my own business and -blog. The conference would be a great chance for me to meet professionals and get more perspective and confidence to my designs.

Hi I’m Samuele Schiavon a web & graphics designer from Venice, Italy. It would be great to attend to FOWD, because:

a) it’s the most important web design event around;
b) many great names and signatures of the discipline, including some like Elliot Jay Stocks and Dan Cederholm, whom I regularly read;
c) Because I never been at FOWD and also at NYC :-)

Who wouldn’t love to go to FOWD, one of most important web conferences ever. I’ve never been able to go to one because I’m a bit tight on money right now, but would love to have the opportunity to experience it at least once someday.

Oct 19, 2009 at 7:54 am

I would LOVE to go to FOWD. A web design conference in NYC would be so inspiring. Would definitely travel to NYC for this event.

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:01 am

Maybe I’ll win…

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:03 am

I’d love to hear what some of the more experienced members of the web design community have to say, but mostly I think this would be a great networking event to meet some other like minded designers and share ideas.

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:20 am

I’ve only been officially doing this for a couple of years, I still feel like I’m missing a lot, maybe they’ll tell me something at the conference that will help me make it to that next level. :)

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:27 am

I am planning on starting a business as a webdesigner, attending this event would certainly be a big leap forward for me in my quest to learn and grow as a webdesigner.

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:31 am

Hello. Here’s some backstory: I am a designer in an ad agency in the philly area which has only recently begun to shift away from direct mail and into digital media. Many of the ‘old hats’ who run the agency are still blown away by bursts and gradients and flash 7. Whenever I try to tout the merits of WP, CSS, Coldfusion, etc – I’m mercilessly bludgeoned with “just do what the f— we tell you.” a la J. Jonah. Jameson. I cannot get my bosses to shell out the money to upgrade from CS2, let alone attend a conference on the future of web design, which I love to learn.
Please support this technologically- malnourished designer.

Thank you.

Oct 19, 2009 at 8:38 am

There aren’t a lot of web conferences in Alabama, where I’m working–it would be amazing to get to go!

Having attended FOWA in London, I’d really like to see what FOWD is all about. And hey, it’s in NY.

Oct 19, 2009 at 9:13 am

It’s an amazing opportunity to hear from the leaders of the web design industry, as well meet and chat with peers, which is not something I get much of a chance to do. I was always a bit too intimidated to go, but if given this opportunity for a free ticket I would definitely take advantage and finally attend!

I’d love to go to this but I’d also love for my husband to go so he can have this experience. It would make a great birthday gift for him (Nov. 13th). I’m a freelance graphic/web designer and he is a very talented amateur web developer who would like to make his hobby his full-time job somewhere down the line. Oct 19, 2009 at 2:37 pm

This conference is sick! Who wouldn’t want to go.

Marjorie Lapointe-Aubert
Oct 19, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I was there in 2007 and it was the best. I wish I could go again this year!

Oct 19, 2009 at 2:49 pm

After my employer rejected three conference trips this year, I’ve been anxiously waiting to purpose the next to them even though I’m sure they’ll reject my request again. These hard times make it difficult to explore more web design conferences so I can expand my knowledge and help my employer as well as myself. I’d love to go, just once! But I won’t give up petitioning my employer! Perhaps next year will be better?

Oct 19, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Because it will be the best present ever as it’s my birthday on the November 14th!! :-)

Oct 19, 2009 at 3:05 pm

I would LOVE to go. Thanks :-)

Oct 19, 2009 at 3:11 pm

I’m still new to the web design field and I’m loving it so far. This would be my first ever conference so I’m sure it would be really insightful and help me to become better at what I love to do =)

Oct 19, 2009 at 3:36 pm

I’d love to go to this :3
It’d be pretty interesting and it would help with the website I am making. I’m also helping my older sister to make a shop website for the gift shop in NZ. I’m only 16, but I believe I could really achieve something from this. So please, do pick me :3!

Oct 19, 2009 at 7:25 pm

I would love to attend a conference like FOWD. I am a student passionate about web design and development and I have read wonderful comments about this event.

Oct 19, 2009 at 11:59 pm

I’m not able to go to school, hence I’ve thought myself everything I know about web and graphic design. It’ll be a great opportunity to attend the FOWD. It’ll make me grow as a designer, and it’ll help me get out of the hole I’m into.

Best of luck to everyone! I hope I get it =]

I want to be there because I love so much what I do and I want to get even better at it so bad. I have been looking forward to go to one of these international (for me) conferences for a long time, but there is no way I can afford it with what I currently earn (payment for websites around here is not good).

With the state of the web changing on a moment by moment basis, It is important to stay on top of where the web is going. Attending this conference will give me an upper hand and allow me to offer my clients forward thinking features and ideas. The FOWD workshops sound amazing and I feel that I would benefit greatly from them.

I’m a student, so the chance to go to a big conference like this would be a great opportunity for me to network with people in the industry and learn new skills. Also, I’ve never been to NYC.

Oct 20, 2009 at 3:45 pm

Web design is a HUGE part of my life! I just graduated with my BA in Web design and so this would be INCREDIBLY important and great experience for me to attend this. As a fellow Web designer and developer we all need to stay up on the trends and be in tune with what the future holds! Money has been a bit tight lately and I otherwise will not be able to attend! I would also LOVE to be able to attend the workshops and hear the great minds of companies such as Vimeo.

Oct 20, 2009 at 4:18 pm

I have never been east of Ohio and would love to go to this conference. Double whammy – POW!

As soon as I heard FOWD was going to be in NYC in November I began to lose 10 minutes of actual sleep time each night. Each night an additional 10 minutes of sleep is seemingly disappearing as the thought of what will be certainly the most impacting Web c. At this point I sleep only one hour. Tomorrow……..50 minutes…. I must go to FOWD in November or I might never sleep again. How am I to continue to improve my web skills and grow my business if I don’t attend this amazing web design conference? I don’t know, and I don’t want to find out. Please select me as the winner. I will be forever grateful and I will sleep for weeks!!!!

Oct 21, 2009 at 10:35 am

I was able to go to FOWD 2 years ago and it was the most amazing, inspirational conference I’ve been to so far. It’s great to be around so many creative people in your field and to be taught by the masters! I was supposed to go this year again but changed jobs and alas I am no longer going! I would LOVE to be able to attend this year!!!

As a web designer, I think we all need to be tuned with where the web is going. and big part of it is attending these awesome conferences. I’ve never attended FOWD and would love to join this year since I’m really close to NYC. Thanks for the opportunity to win a ticket.

Hey Nick,

I’m an Interactive AD here in NYC (Which, at my Agency, means an AD who deals with 98% online content). For the past year we have been so focused on winning new business and pumping out work in bulk to keep “hitting our numbers” that I’ve barely had time to open my eyes to what’s new on the horizon of my own industry!
I would love the chance to attend FOWD and hopefully come back to work ready to push our creative work to where it should be – to places we’ve yet to take it. Thanks!

Hi Nick,

I simply want more inspiration and innovative ideas on how to better design and develop e-Learning experiences with the use of Adobe Flash, Captivate, Connect, etc.

I am an Interactive Multimedia Developer from Ottawa, Canada and would very much appreciate the chance to attend FOWD for the first time.

Due to budget limitations either at work or personally I cannot make it to FOWD this year.

Thanks Nick for doing this pass give away by the way.

I’m a student designer who is on a tight budget. I am an upcoming designer who is constantly learning, staying up with the latest tends and trying to pave the path to the future of web and design related work. My goal is to inspire others and change the world through creative problem solving, no matter how minute the change may be. I’d love to get the chance to attend and be in an environment where inspiration is prevalent and people are actively exchanging ideas and creative thought!

I live in Albany, NY so I would certainly be available to attend.

I am just learning about web design and will start my certification classes in November. I think I will need to get some basics under my belt before I would attend a design conference in order to apply what I would learn. So, could I put in a request for ticket for the next go around? Or maybe some follow up lessons from this year? That would be great…always ready to tackle a new design idea. Thanks!

I would love to go to FOWD! I would love to hear about the latest trends in web design and development and keep connected. As a Web Project Manager, I’m always looking for freelancers to use for upcoming projects, this would be an excellent networking opportunity for me. I’ve never been to NYC and likely won’t get to go anytime soon – unless someone gives me tickets to a major event and I therefore gives me a good excuse. Also, this would be my last big trip before I have a baby in January.

I am overwhelmed with excitement to attend this conference.

I cannot come to think of a way of thanking my employer, who has willingly funded me these workshops and conference. Unfortunately, she is unable to make this expense for herself.

I strongly believe that she deserves to be rewarded for all the hard work she does by having the opportunity to finally attend this conference.

I’m a fourth year college student studying at the College of Saint Benilde taking up Multimedia Arts. I want to go to the conference because web designing is my future. Right now, i took a break from University back in the philippines and is currently in Maryland to observe and learn more on Western Trends on web design. That’s how much i want to learn! Web design is my life and i want to learn as much as possible and by attending that conference, i would really really really get to learn how the big guns do it properly!

(plus, i just need one more conference before i’m allowed to graduate SOO it would really mean alot to me if i can go there!)

Nov 2, 2009 at 10:51 pm

after the birth of little Lucie this spring I spend most of my time in the nest. Listening to podcasts, watching old FOWD videos and surfing the web for inspiration, and distraction. Endless hours on twitter and facebook…..Now back from maternity leave I crave to see and talk to fellow web designers again. As wonderful as the web is…nothing beats face to face…or stage to face or…way back there is Paul Boag…OMG!!!

We have been in business for about a year and 4 months now developing web applications and doing graphic design work, but we are now looking to take things to the next level and learn about new initiatives that are happening in our industry. Funny thing is that I will be in NYC (currently from Toronto) during those days for a wedding anyhow, so it would be a great opportunity to be able to attend and become more involved.
