Very cool. Definitely would come in handy for those none-too-rare clients looking for some “flashy transitions” – and do so in such a way as to NOT make me feel like gagging. :)

I used some flash-galls before, this one however seems to have lots and lots of options ( in contradiction to most of them).

As a webdesigner I see more options in the “collection plus”, due to some ordinary effects in the basic one. Anyway, it could come in handy…
Look forward fooling around with it.

My Thoughts on MCTE
My first impression was hmm… This could be very handy.
I’m a web designer, I get a lot of personal blogging projects where clients what a personal blog and a photo gallery or a few photos up as well. This could be a great new way to display photos and present them well.
My last impression is definitely wow… This thing is awesome.

Thomas
Apr 23, 2008 at 6:45 am

They make a good base for simple animations. However, many of the effects tend to be a bit amateurish “windows movie maker” -transitions. The “genie” effect is one of the worst in this case. I would wish to see options less common and previously used, the palette for transitions is of course limited but still it feels like we have seen these effects too many times before. The TxEff was better in this sense.

There is often a fine line between a professional and an amateur look in all design, and in this case many of the effects fail to accomplish a, in my opinion, strong enough professional feel.

But i think you guys are definitively on the right track!

Decent flash transitions. Where they lack in creativity, they make up in smoothness. As a designer, they are a little weak, but the general public would probably still get a kick out of a few of them.

I really like these effects. I can already see where I can use them in my personal and professional projects. Although I would like to see more creative effects similar to the TxEff components. But then again, you have given us control to change parameters, patterns etc to give us a little bit more creativity. Thank you Jumpeye Components and Web Designer Wall so much for all the useful info and competitions posted on this site.

I just downloaded the free trial of the component. BEAUTIFUL! The thing I love most about Flash components is how easy they are to customize. The options available in the parameters panel are great. It’s very easy to change from effect to effect. Great component!

Apr 23, 2008 at 9:46 am

My favorites are the Swap and Switch effects. I would love to apply those to a photo gallery. I think the genie effect could use a little more work. Apple’s version is more like what I expect a genie to do, start sucking in from the bottom and then pull the whole image in. Great effects though.

These are cool, I really like the square light transition. A few are pretty cheesy, but I could definitely imagine a client would love them (like ripple alpha and waterdrops). Couldn’t see myself ever using the genie effect, the white space between showing each picture is very awkward.

Dustin Goodman

Really nice! first the TxEff for text which was amazing on its effects and freedom to play with them, now the MCTE…
It’s just… almost perfect (cause perfect is not existing :) ). Now, having the transition effects for images too, a lot is work and time is gained. It’s worthless to talk about how great the transitions are… it’s just beautifull.

I can mention about the use of this component for web-designing… huge amount of time gained for photo intros or headers. You can just do few clicks and have an amazing .swf beside making all the things manually in Flash…

Really, really cool and usefull!

i love to work with components – they save me a lot of time and you get great effects out of the box! It’s the best way to get a cool animation done in a short time :) and for the client it doesn’t matter if it is a handwritten action or a ready-to-use transition!

keep up the good work :)

This component is one the few good ones. I also checked the menu component its also very good. And prices are acceptable for components. Btw, my favorite transition is desert illusion. Good work.

Sally Harris
Apr 24, 2008 at 5:30 am

The demo version has something built into it to only allow it to work in the flash preview pane (at least on my computer – XP/CS3), which was the only place I could view the results of the effects. I couldn’t find anything in the instructions as to why this is so and it took me a few minutes to figure out. Without any clue in the paperwork or on the website (that I could find) I wouldn’t buy this product, since I wouldn’t want to take the risk that it wouldn’t work in the browser with the full version.

That aside, the component was easy to set up and use and you wouldn’t need any scripting knowledge to get it working. The transitions in v2 (the demo version) I found to be less than impressive and powerpointesque, however the examples from v3 look far more worth the cash.

Overall, for $50 I would say that you couldn’t go wrong, as it will save you vast amounts of time on short deadline projects. However, I wouldn’t buy it until I had assurances that it would work in the browser once I had installed the full version.

I’m just starting out in Flash. I did my first fade & wipe animations and they took me over 20 hours. I’m so far behind my other coworkers as far as flash capabilities and speed. I was tempted many times to purchase pre-designed, individual flash animations and transitions, but having an entire MCTE collection is a lifesaver! Not only can I complete the animations in a quarter of the time, but MCTE will also help me dissect the flash components and figure out how to branch off into my own animations.

The most interesting transition to me would have to be the Square Light transition. I definitely find this package to be quite impressive. Jumpeye Components definitely did a great job!

Thank you very much for giving your readers a chance to win! Keep up the amazing work!

These transitions are nice. An impactful, yet subtle way to ease between elements. I’ve seen most of them done before, but still think they hold good merit.

Apr 24, 2008 at 11:47 am

I actually stumbled on the website for these guys and their effects last week and bookmarked them on my ongoing quest to find a good page flipping component. They looked really nice in general, though a few seemed a little cheesy. I like the cubic fading transitions and other more subtle yet graphic treatments like that. Would definitely be a nice addition to my Flash arsenal.

I can tell a good deal of work went into these, and they ended up looking great. However, I would hope there are some parameters that can be customized, because they may get a bit stale after a lot of use.

Eirik
Apr 24, 2008 at 3:38 pm

The sample effects are all good, but I hope these will be used as what they are, effects. It can often get too much very soon if this is to be used on full scale presentations (every slide) and galleries (all clicks).

But hey, used cleverly these can be gold.

Some are very nice such as Switch, Flip Page, and Blur, while others are too outdated and cheesy such that I would never use them – namely drops and ripple. Still a very nice set of transitions for the money.

Apr 25, 2008 at 9:23 am

This are good transitions. I think they will be useful for a number of slideshows and other flash projects. I wish someone would release effects such as these as actionscript classes rather than components so that more advanced flash developers could incorporate them into larger projects without having to reinvent all of the code. But great nonetheless.

Michael H
Apr 25, 2008 at 10:14 am

I usually prefer to learn how to code actions myself rather than using a component but I can definitely see how it could be useful and a timesaver. Sometimes your clients timeline doesn’t allow you to work it out yourself. And I like the transitions, not too cheesy. However if these end up on every other site on the web they can quickly become old.

I have been thus far making all my own transition effects, and i know, by expecience that when you are making something, adding transitions is a total creativity killer, you completly forget your initial ideas.

The ability to add quick transitions will be very useful, not only in time, but in saving our creativity ideas from otherwise time-fade.

Thanks for letting me know this exists.

Jannis
Apr 27, 2008 at 6:07 pm

The transitions are nice a fluent however I think that some of them are too fast -this is judged by the samples above- and the page flip animation’s transparency is somewhat puzzling me as i cannot see through the page before I flip it when I am reading an actual book. A little more realism here please..
So apart from that little goof/feature? MCTE is pretty awesome already with just a few little details that need improvement.

Simply beautiful!

Murat
Apr 29, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Hi All,
My favourites here are; Desertillusion, Square Light, Switch and Flip Page. I can imagine a web site designs that will benefit from these effects. (Photo studio, Photo Gallery etc ). But I really couldn’t see the benefit of other effects. I don’t mean they are not good. But for most of the web design I am involved with, they will not add anything special. I might be convinced otherwise if they used and displayed in sites where they add value to the design.

Ok it seams to be a video tools with Flash render, something that Adobe premiere CS already do!! I haven’t test it, and I hope it is more simple than Premiere.
Is it a stand alone app or a flash extention????
For the moment I can say that the samples effects have a good render and fluidity the quality seams to be present.
In fact I post a comment here to win a version and realy test it.
So thank you.

In production situations where one person may be doing the work of 2, the MCTE component would be invaluable for adding high-end transitions that look like a million bucks [and a lot of time] were spent on doing them. I am one person doing all of the multimedia in my organization, and the MCTE component could potentially save me a lot of time. Bravo.

Jonathan Mohler
May 4, 2008 at 12:20 am

I think these transitions are indispensable. Having them at my disposal would make a huge difference in my work flow. Our church still uses powerpoint for announcements. I would love to use these to create flash presentations.

I am a beginner designer from Kenya and this component definitely seems like the thing to use when creating flash animations in a hurry with or without complex knowledge of FLASH!

I personally love the fact that i can use to create complex animations simply in FLASH and then export them to video for use in video post-production. Am sure it will make both my video and web work outstanding!
