As 2010 is wrapping up, it is about time do a sum up of the best sites that I’ve featured on Best Web Gallery. Again I’ve selected 50 sites from different categories: personal blog, commercial, agency, portfolio, and software. In 2010, CSS design is getting more interactive. People are using jQuery and CSS animation to add interaction in their design. More designers are using custom font faces. Some have incorporated responsive web design using media query. Responsive design is definitely the next big thing that we should look forward to.

I really like the Version site design with it’s use of lighting effects at the top of the page and again a little further down the page to reveal the grass profile shot. I think these two design areas tell a story about their product. To me the profile shot of the grass indicates what it is like using your computer without their product (dark) while with their product it’s like a new opportunity that lets the light shine in.

Great list. I think there are common elements to note here. An overall clean-cut, minimalist theme with sharp clear images seem to be the noticeable trend. Use of Jquery or Motools based slide-shows or content sliders are also adopted by many websites today.

It’s a lot more minimal this year. I think that web design is growing up and becoming visually sophisticated, and now gives print design a run for it’s money, especially with the advent of font development in CSS3.
I like this list and as always, that you for putting this together. Personally this year I have simplified my site down to it’s bare bones and I’ve tried to get to the essence of my brand.

Thanks for sharing these sites with us. Great layouts for most of them. Fast loading front pages (like Chirp & Cutler – many more though) appeal to me. Designs definitely need to consider front page load time – if the front page doesn’t load the major content in 4-6 seconds I’m usually gone – I think that’s the same for most people.
