As technology changes, so do user habits, and as user habits change, so does web design. Curious what web design trends we’ll see in 2015? We see that responsive design is an essential of modern web. Web sites are more interactive with cool navigation and rich media content. Read on to see what to keep an eye out for this year.

1. SVG Delight

SVG became a buzzword in 2014. It is no wonder, because with this vector format, your assets look crisp and nicely adapt to any screen size. In addition to that, SVG elements can be beautifully animated and make your site feel alive. I’m sure we’ll see more examples of such animations this year.

2. Long Live the RWD

Many sites have already been adapted for tablet and smartphone users, and in 2015, the responsive design will sure continue to expand. Together with the increasing use of smart watches and TVs, it is highly important to provide a seamless experience across all available channels.

3. Rich, Dynamic Backgrounds

Weve been seeing a lot of large-image backgrounds for some time now, but for 2015, designers are kicking it up a notch. With more and more movies being released in 3D, users will also expect 3D in cutting edge designs. Learning how to balance the intricacies of three-dimensional graphics will play an important part in the evolution of web design. You can also expect to see fully responsive HD-quality video backgrounds on many websites this year.

4. More Interactive Than Ever

Micro-interactions are a great way to enhance the UX on your site, and they are here to stay. Creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for your users has a significant impact on your visitors emotional involvement with your brand and the amount of time they spend browsing your site.

5. Bigger, Bolder, Better

Typography greatly affects usability and the overall aesthetics of the site. It is also one of the means of delivering the brand message. In 2015, well see more of bold fonts, as well as responsive typography that provides a better reading experience.

6. Ghost Buttons

Ghost buttons are a minimal and stylish interface feature designed to attract the user’s attention in a subtle way. With a smart hover animation, it is a pleasure to use and adds a touch of elegance to any site. Considering how well ghost buttons pair with large background images and videos, we’ll definitely see more of them this year.

7. Scrolling in, Clicking out

For the past few years, and with the increase in use of mobile devices to surf the web, users have become accustomed to scrolling. In fact, many would say that scrolling has won over clicking. The reason for this change is that an online audience wants to get a preview of all you have to offer right on the first page. This is why, come 2015, home pages need to get longer in order to create a dynamic interaction between the website and the viewer.

These seven trends are surely not revolutionary, but they do show where the web design is heading and what you can do to make your site stand out in 2015 and beyond.

Those are some really neat trends but I think that ghost button should not really part of this list. This kind of goes against marketing standards. Lets just say that if ou are using these ghost like buttons on a busy looking page then I dont think visitors will spot these buttons. Its unclear but overall it depends on design. I try to keep everything up to date in terms of design when I design and develop website for people.

Best Regards

Some great insights into the website design trends for the year ahead. One thing that we are seeing more and more is the incorporation of video backgrounds on the home page. Works great in some sectors – in other’s it looks like a gimmick

A really good list of recent trends on web designing but I would also agree with Sebastian on the same point. I do not see Ghost buttons are any good for CTA. If color contrast are not complementary and the button itself is not big enough to catch the eyes then ghost buttons can make a problem with conversion optimization.
All other points are really good especially the SVG one. I love it. Just a single line, do not make designs so heavy that it takes too much time to load.

SVG is going to be huge this year, everyone is already talking about it. Parallax scrolling as well. Love ghost buttons as well, they are so subtle and gives a design a nice call to action. Thanks for the great examples!

I see parallax scrolling less common than it was in 2013 and 14. The huge trend this year, in my opinion, will be large background images on flat design with ghost buttons. We are seeing more and more website of this type.

These are great existing trends and going to expand in different ways. The designs tend to engage visitors and persuade to take desired action. It is very useful for in terms of user interface and business perspective.

Otherwise it is very difficult to draw visitors attention and force them to stay on website.
