I definitely have to agree, and was the first thing that came to mind. I am also a photographer and though big, bold pictures are great when you are already well known, and no longer need to build and explain why a client should choose you then filling a web site with larger photos is the way to go, however like you said these web sites are a small percentage that actually represent the overall picture of photographers.
I am competing with the studio down the road or the next town/city over – or who is listed in the yellow pages. Not photographers to the stars and National Geographic. There are some great ideas but no one is necessarily the right one for everyone. Each web site needs to represent the style and personality of that individual photographer – whatever type of photography it may be.
I personally enjoy photography; and I especially appreciate the flash based photographs. These sites really do have stunning photos; and since their in full screen, this makes it extra interesting. I especially found the photo entitled David Lindsey Wade very interesting. Since it is a full screen shot, you get to see more of the background; the walls coming apart; the image of the girl on the left; it sort of tells more of a story and give you a bigger glimpse into the whole scene and dialogue of the shot..
I like to see photos like this on websites; they are quite interesting and beautiful to look at. Flash based photography would definitely enforce a certain appeal onto a website. All the images are very rich in colour which creates a bigger meaning and impact.
Good job on collecting these 30 shots; they are really beautiful. As a web programming company; we also help design many websites and these are just great ideas of wide screen flash photos that would look great on a front page of a website.
If this is about photography sites, I want to see screenshots of the sites, not photos, that can be found on these sites.
