Folks! I’m very excited to annouce the launch of my new site — IconDock. It is a icon shop where I sell stock icons and offer free icons for download. The main focus of IconDock is to provide vector icons that you can use for print and web design. You can buy icons individually or a complete set. Even if you are not interested in buying the icons, check out the site anyway to see the Ajax-powered shop with drag & drop features.

Very nice! I really like the drag & drop cart.

Would you mind telling everyone what you used to power the site. ie. what shopping cart system etc.

I like the design of the site but for accessibility it scores 0…. Would it really have been that hard to make it work for people without JS enabled??

Feb 21, 2009 at 5:50 am

Hi – nice concept. Would just tell you that i can’t see the checkout button on my resolution (1280×800) in firefox when i got more tabs open.

People actually need the button to buy, so i would suggest that you are fixing it :-)

Cheers..

It looks very nice, this is one of the examples of great AJAX use.

Although I don’t really like the fact that with Javascript turned off, you can’t really shop anymore. For example if I click on the “add to cart”-button on this page with Javascript turned off, I get a 404 error page. (using: FireFox 3.0.6) I really think you should fix that.

But it’s a very nice site and the new icon set looks great. Nice work! :)

Come on, everybody, the intended target for this site are web designers/developers, and I think almost all of them have JS enabled.
Congrats Nick on your new site, it looks really good.

Hi chap,
Congratulations on the launch of this new web project and we hope for the better than the best.

The Ajax features of the site are good.

In Google Chrome I found that on drag n drop the cart section shows the loader but the product don’t get added to the cart. It works only on clicking the PLUS sign above the product.

Hope to have this flaw rectified.

enjoy :)

Nice site, but in Safari v3.2.1 the drag and drop shows the loading but does not show the product. Search also doesn’t return much, i gather this is because the database is fairly light at this stage(?)

Great site, love the side bar shopping basket, this will be definatley bookmarked for future reference.
Its great that you’re selling them individually also as the majority of the major stock photography/vector sites only sell them as a set, which is off putting if you only need one or 2 icons.
Great Job.

This is a really well-done site! I have done a lot of fruitless hunting for good icons recently. When I’ve found good ones I haven’t wanted to buy an entire set just to get the one icon I need, so I really appreciate the innovative option to buy icons one at a time. Maybe it’s been done a lot before, but I haven’t seen it. So, this site is definitely going on the top of my list of icon resources…hope to see the portfolio grow!

Hi,

In my view… gorgeous. The navigation is smooth. The layout is somewhat really Apple-like (but, anyway, it’s called IconDock, and -currently- the only consumer system with a dock is OSX), and I think the search bar would have been better with more “round” shapes (like the one on the Apple website).
The drag ‘n drop doesn’t feel like a real drag ‘n drop, like the one on your computer, but it’s still well-made.
So, well, I’m amazed… good job ^^

Great site — already purchased some icons. :) Really, really love the drag-and-drop cart — any chance you’d put together a tutorial on implementing that?

i just have concerns,

i am totally impressed by the overall look and feel, but unfortunately it is not working on IE6, either you should fix it or you could write a note to the IE6 users that you don’t support IE6.

another thing to mention that the website is totally not functioning when javascript is disabled, which is a really a big deal that you should take care of.

Best Regards,

steeven

This is a site that is not only usefull to us Web Designers, but is a showcase of what can be done with the most modern tools around. It’s “Avant Garde”. “Wow” is the only comment valid here.

For those who don’t have JS enabled and roam around in IE6 – look into the future of the web. Also, this site is for Web Designers, not Joe Shmock at the local bank office looking at the website on his lunch break from his Amstrad 64.

I must say, The background doesn’t really match the theme, But for some odd reason the background look very refreshing from the user point of view, good job on that, and i also want to know how you did that drag n drop function, it really interest me. a youtube Tutorial would be nice.

I must say that icons from icondock is very flexible and editable as vector icons are scalable, so we can export them to any size for web purposes or high resolution print materials like brochures and advertising.
