Recently I’ve joined a group of artists to support Japan earthquake relief efforts. Each artist contributed a piece of art work dedicated to raise funds. The artworks will be displayed and available for purchase at the To Japan with Love (Facebook event) art show which is organized by Linda Nakanishi. All proceeds from the show will be donated to Canadian Red Cross.

great poster and great project. artists like you really, truly make a difference.

John Lo
Apr 20, 2011 at 1:40 am

The project is for a good cause and do I support that.

But I don’t really like the idea. For me it’s too provoking. I live in Japan and many here doesn’t really like when foreign artists (or artists in general) crack the sun in Hinomaru (I know you are not using the flag in your design but it’s obvious what you are trying to do) to visualize the disaster here in Japan. The tsunami, fire etc are not really helping either.

Kat
Apr 20, 2011 at 10:13 am

I think Nick La is trying to illustrate the fact that the earthquake destroyed thousands of home. Avoiding the subject doesn’t change the fact.

John Lo
May 18, 2011 at 9:39 pm
