Alex
May 11, 2012 at 6:59 am

Well, what can I say? That’s a great idea to do give-aways. Especially in the context of slicing PSD files because if you’re really pressed for time, the odds are that you just can’t afford the luxury of slicing on your own. A tight deadline! And services like PSD2HTML come to rescue right in the nick of time.

May 12, 2012 at 7:28 am

1. Is there also a service for making PSD files to be converted by you guys?
2. Do you do full e-commerce sites with dynamic databases?

zero
May 12, 2012 at 8:41 pm

Ahsen, to answer number one: you create the PSD file which is your design. When you submit it to PSD2HTML, they will slice it and create the HTML / CSS for you to use. In regards to number two, I would have to say this falls outside of PSD2HTML’s service.

I’ve used PSD2HTML for a number of projects and they’ve saved me a load of time and coding struggles. There are others out there in the market that I’ve tried on occasion (sorry…!*!), but none of them so far have matched the quality and turnaround from PSD2HTML. Earning some credit with them would be great. And thanks for some great tutorials Nick – I’ve only just discovered your site (where have I been?*!), and I’m learning some great new stuff.

Without referring to this service specifically, a word or two of caution about these services:

If you don’t understand what theses CSS & JS experts have done for you then adjusting and modifying as projects evolve can quickly become troublesome to the designer (and by extension, to the client).

If you create a ‘mocked up’ design template before the final content is truly known (sadly a common situation) these services should be clearly told to not hard-code all dimensions absolutely. You’ll want to have things as relative dimensions in order to be fluid enough to support changes.

We’ve tried a number of these services over the 20+ years in the biz – and have often had to rescue sites from results of poor communications and wrongly-set expectations.

Just be clear about what you want and your level of expertise when hiring these services.
