Excited to know you’ll be speaking at WordCamp. I’m a graphic designer (print) that has made the transition to web design. For the last 2 years I have been striving to write valid, standard compliant code. I have never had a chance to listen to any leading designer / code ninja speak at any conference and would love to start learning from experts in the field.

I am excited because I know that CG6 can do great things! Also, I would like to learn the various ways I can utilize WordPress in a non boring way. I’ve been to social media sessions and not one has focused just on WordPress. I have my own little company and would like to start with WordPress. As well as I represent other not-for-profit organizations and would like to help them gain wider recognition with as much free advertising with a blog as possible.

I would love to go to WordCamp Toronto because you can never learn, know or strive for too much when it comes to knowledge, and refusing to expose yourself to new or better ways of accomplishing something will only harm you in the long run.

I have a very close friend who I haven’t seen in years that lives in Toronto. Going to WordCamp would not only be the perfect excuse to tell my wife why I have to go to Toronto, but I’d also be given the opportunity to learn so much more about the tool we use on 90% of our websites.

Gas from Minnesota to Canada: $200
Road Munchies: $40
Being able to party with your buddy after attending an extremely great opportunity to learn about an amazing tool without getting in trouble with you wife: priceless.

How exciting this must be for you, to speak at WordCamp 2009. What a fortunate opportunity. You get to educate people about different uses for WordPress and other topics.

How excited I am just to enter this contest, I’d love to go. I wouldn’t mind picking up some tips from professionals and getting exposed to the whole industry. I’m usually stuck learning it all from my computer. An opportunity indeed.

Good luck to us all (especially me – oh, and I guess it would be cool to see/meet R.C. or any of the other Adobe guys there)

I’m one of two web developers for the design company for which I work. We use WordPress to power almost all of our clients’ sites and our own company site, and I use it for my personal sites as well. I’m constantly finding new ways to tweak and use WP and all of my knowledge has been powered by searches and the WP forums (and WDW), so I consider myself a proud member of the WP community. I love WordPress, and getting some professional tips and guidance would be a huge boost for me both professionally and personally.

Laurie Holcombe
Apr 26, 2009 at 1:20 pm

Working as a web developer for a design company, we use WordPress to power many, if not all, of at least a portion of our clients’ sites. I personally have been a very long-time user of WordPress and have continued to be pleased and amazed by the huge, helpful community of WordPress users who provide tips and tricks and great plugins. I would love the opportunity to take part in WordCamp and come away more knowledgeable and with exciting new ideas that I can incorporate into client sites and my own personal sites.

I’ve been developing sites for 7 years now, mostly using Microsoft’s technolgies (ASP and ASP.NET now) at the day job. Whenever I can I try to go with the open source flow. All my freelance jobs are done on Unix using PHP and whenever possible I try to use wordpress for a website project.

I’ve started blogging in the year 2002 when I was eightteen and full of stories to tell out of my life. So I decided not to write emails with things happend to my friend in Australia. Instead of it, I started writing online Diary. WordPress came out to be the software solution I was looking for. It is great to keep my memories, pictures, galleries and stuff up to date. My friends and all other interessted people can add my feed and be informed about me and my life. So, what’s next? I’d love to go to Toronto as a journalist and the personal diary blogger that I am. Please say: Yes, you can!

Phyl
May 1, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I went to Word Camp last October, and was really inspired to try to use the WordPress software as I gradually built an editing and writing business. I’ve only recently gotten my website, and finally moved one of my WordPress blogs to it. Needless to say, the income level is very low while I’m still at the beginning, and I was looking forward to the next WordCamp TO (which I thought would be later in the year) for more great ideas, to really build things. Now that my blog is on my own site, so many of the ideas I heard about last year can now be implemented, if I can refresh my memory about them and talk to others to get ideas and tips.

Now I discover today that WordCamp is next week, not later in the year! And no matter what it costs, I can’t afford to go. This is really disappointing.

After a few drinks on the Saturday night (happy b-day Yaro!!) I think that the real reason that anyone would want to go is to get to know a few more like -minded people, get ‘alcoholized’ and make friends for a long time after the conference is over (it’s not always about business, y’know..)…oh, and yes “develop myself as a designer and an artist and so on…. :P” (tounge in chick).. Have a great time whoever goes there!

I want to go to WordCamp to see the culture/personality of the people which will help me choose my career more carefully.

I would also love to see you in person and other great designers and writers.
