This is Round 2 of the FITC ticket draw. Again, WDW is giving out two tickets to the FITC conference that will take place in Toronto between April 25 – 28, 2009. Visit their website for event information and presentation details. I also want to remind the female readers that you can get a free ticket by submitting a video to FITC explaining why you want to attend the event (deadline is March 27, 2009). If you are buying tickets, enter coupon code "webdesignerwall" to get a 20% discount.

Update: This contest is closed and the winners are: 2 and 9.

How to get a free ticket from WDW?

  • Post a comment in this post stating why you want to go.
  • One entry per person. Duplicate comments will be voided and deleted.
  • Winners will be contacted by email (so make sure your email address is correct).

Comment entries will be accepted until March 24, 2009 for round 1. Then two winning numbers will be generated randomly from the comment list. Two winners will receive a free ticket to FITC Toronto 2009.

Note: After this round, WDW will do another round to give out the last two tickets.

I’d love to attend FITC. I’m an interaction designer attending university here in Toronto, I’m currently building a multitouch screen for my thesis project with 2 other students and it is coded in flash. I’d love to get to FITC to share and learn from my experiences building multitouch environments.

Look, see! I’m as eager as a schoolboy on his first day of fractions! I’d absolutely love to go to the FITC and I simply won’t give up trying, short of changing my name to Loretta.

I’m a web developer based here in the heart of Toronto and excited about the opportunity to hear the real captains of our industry talk on my doorstop.

Quit my daily job to start a web business. It is not easy especially in this economy, but I determined to succeed and create a solid business that will in return create workspace and bring value to our readers. Visiting FITC would definitely would help to move the project further.

I also recently left my 9-5 to pursue full-time interactive freelance, so I would love a chance to be able to go to FITC without breaking the bank during these first few months of getting settled in my new role! Cheers, thanks for the opportunity!

As a first year design student, the chance to go to something like FITC would be a fantastic opportunity. I want to go to help expand upon what I’ve already learned, meet some of the big names, and gain inspiration.

I hope you will choose me!

I would want to go because I read a ton of blogs a day and read at least a few ton of twitters a day for inspiration.

However I would say that it doesn’t compare to seeing the people you’re reading about in person.

FITC Toronto would be a fresh breath of inspiration into my work.

I want to go because I run a web design studio and need more inspirations!

Mar 11, 2009 at 9:18 am

I’m going to try reverse psychology:

I don’t want to win tickets to FITC. It’s a stupid conference anyways. I don’t need inspiration. I have a boring corporate design job. That’s good enough for me.

I work for BC Children’s Hospital and am developing an online education and community support network for children with chronic disease such as inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, mental health diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. Attending FITC would give me a breath of inspiration and allow me to connect with people who could lend their knowledge and expertise. It would be of great benefit to the project.

Mar 11, 2009 at 11:57 am

I would absolutely love to go. I keep looking at these events with such hope, though the main concern is primarily monetary; it’s awful expensive to fly out to these other cities for their conferences, and the Toronto ones do cost a pretty penny to get into. Really interested in some of these presentations — think of what you could learn!

Hi there,

The reason is simple: my main passion is graphic design and illustration. I work on a lot of different projects and want to be a part of a great event such as FITC.

Inspiration, knowledge, networking and the general admiration for what the top of Digital Media World has to offer is what I want to gain from attending the conference.
It will be a amazing opportunity to be picked for the giveaway above.

Best of luck to everyone who applies and thank you for the consideration.

I want to go to FITC because I’ve been disassembled by the design industry. Told I wasn’t a designer, wasn’t an illustrator, and should run away from interactive. Putting myself back together, I learned that I belong in design, and it’s ok to be a creative swiss army knife. I’m just finishing my diploma in graphic design, and I think I need the FITC to inspire and assure me in my decisions about the industry.

I’ve taken a recent interest in Flex development, and started to build my first enterprise RIA. I wish to attend this conference to learn more about actionscript from a practical use case stand point, as well as meet professionals in the field. I think that it would be a great opportunity to share my programming background with others that are just as passionate as I am about their work. I hope this randomizer picks me!! WOOOO!!!

I need to go to FITC to kick-start my life. I’m tired of living at home, alone, in Bradford, Ontario. I want to grow, meet people and see cool things that just can’t be experienced sitting in front of the same computer monitor every day. Oh yeah, I’m a hard-working, daily-commuting student so I can’t afford a ticket for FITC anyways. It’s my dream. :(

My boss just went to FITC in Amsterdam and came back glowing about how amazing Ralph was. I’m still getting a handle on Papervision myself.

Cheers,

I would love to go because I live close to Toronto and it would be super duper to network with people in the area. Plus I am a high school computer science teacher and anything I learn from the conference I could pass on to future web developers. Not only that but I would take a bag and collect as much samples as I could to share with my students.

To learn, to expand, to experience.
I work for an old-school corporation whose digital presence is really lagging. I want to attend not only for my own personal interest and learning, but also to bring back some fresh ideas for my work team.

I’m suspicious of the fact FITC encourages “a video of you” when it applies only to women as a means for consideration. It’s vaguely creepy.

No, I take that back. REALLY creepy.

Meh.

Attending FITC means connecting with people who are creative and advanced in the latest web technologies. Volunteering last year was a rewarding experience. Though I wouldn’t mind doing it again, winning a ticket would be a bonus towards gaining even greater knowledge in Flash. As for the extra ticket, I’d make sure it wouldn’t go to waste!

Employer training budgets are tight these days. A designer has got to do what they can to stay in touch with emerging trends. Sending a ticket my way would be really appreciated.

James
Mar 24, 2009 at 1:34 pm

This would be awesome! Conferences are often in far away places, but this is right at home. I’m a computer engineering student with a keen interest in web development and design.

Lately, I’ve been trying to use my technical skills to improve community groups, either through thorough numerical analysis of their data, migration of their data to usable databases (Ralph Thornton Centre) or through construction of websites for non-profits (Toronto Youth Cabinet and Canada Geeks).

The FITC would be a great complement to the work I’m doing both as a developer and a budding web designer.
