Introducing a revolutionary analytic tool — Clixpy — it captures everything your visitors do on the site including: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and form inputs. For this review purpose, I tested it on IconDock and the results are impressive. Instantly, I can watch what my visitors did on the site. Clixpy is extremely useful to analyze the feedbacks on new sites and site updates. See it in action now or sign up to get 10 free captures for a test run.

Giveaway: Make a comment in this post (before Jun 12, 2009) for your chance to win a free “600 captures” promo code. I will be giving out 10 promo codes in total.

Installation

Installation is easy. Just copy a Javascript code onto your site(s). You can use the same tracking code on all of your sites and it will automatically filter the domains and sites.

Sessions (Captures)

Each session provides detailed information such as: page URL, day & time, pageview, duration of the visit, browser, OS, screen resolution, and the location of the visitor. You can save and add notes to the sessions.

sessions

Pricing

  • 10 Captures = Free (new sign up)
  • 100 Captures = $5
  • 200 Captures = $10
  • 600 Captures = $20
  • 1000 Captures = $30

Final Remarks

  • Clixpy is very simple and straight to the point (both frontend and backend). Totally recommended!
  • If you have a high traffic site, 600 captures don’t last long. I used up 600 captures in several hours.
  • It would be better if I could download the sessions on my computer.

How To Win a "600 Captures" Promo Code?

  • Post your comment about Clixpy in this post.
  • One entry per person. Duplicate comments will be voided.
  • Winners will be contacted by email.

Comment entries will be accepted until June 12, 2009. Then 10 winning numbers will be generated randomly from the comment list. Each winner will get a "600 captures" promo code.

Wow, looks pretty interesting, if not a little creepy from the user’s end. Still, I can definitely see how it could be useful for traffic analysis. Would love to test it out, especially since I have a pretty low traffic site!

I gave clixpy a try and was quite impressed. The dashboard interface and ability to capture AJAX content set it apart from other similar services.

The only problem I did find with it, was that it doesn’t play back captures from sites that load content via php includes. Something Userfly is able to do.

I’m curious… what happens if their script doesn’t load. Does the page hang?

Brandon Durham

The reason I ask is because you have to include the script in the head of your document. If it’s large or hangs, your page may not load correctly.

Jun 8, 2009 at 1:00 pm

If you put the code on your site, can you choose which sessions it records? that would be nice – so you could use it for a small usability study of sorts. Also, does it aggregate data at all? I can imagine it would be incredible unhelpful to simply wade through tons of recordings to see what people did – especially if you couldn’t choose a select 500 to record, that you knew were in your demographic or such.

really amazing tool!… but why its not for free? :(

Clixpy can use the data collected from users for other business benefits , while on the other hand …offer this tool for users for free!
and maybe adding a premium service for additional payments!

this tool can dominate alot if it was free…
but if in case of not free, this opens a chance for other competitors solutions!

just posting my thoughts!

nice but at the same time scary feature… will anything be private in a close future?
as a web designer I would like to know what are the hot spots of my layout and Clixpy could be really helpful.

And just when i thought Crazyegg ruled the web in usabilty test..

Clixpy takes over. Keep it going, amazing tool to test you’re designs and have the results of you’re work to you directly.

Keep it going, Crazyegg to by the way

Paul Seys
Jun 10, 2009 at 8:13 am

I think this is a great concept although quite similar to CrazyEgg. Anything that can give you a clearer picture of user behaviour is always going to be helpful.

Chris Simmons
Jun 10, 2009 at 8:47 am

Hmmm… looks really interesting. Does remind me of CrazyEgg, which I love. I’ll have to see how it works in comparison.

Your contact form seems to be broken. I tried sending you a message but it kept telling me to please make sure all required fields were filled — even though they all were!

I just wanted to say that I really miss the old WDW tutorials, articles, and reviews. It seems like you’re doing a lot more giveaways now and the other content is a lot less informative. I don’t mean to be rude at all, as I’m sure you’re really busy, but I just wanted to let you know that I loved the old WDW and hope you bring better content into the site!

Truly awesome usability tool for any serious web site. If you run either a commercial site or even a simple blog, this tool allows you to sit behind the user over their shoulder and understand what/where users go. I love it. I had been looking for a tool like this rather write scripts to capture all events etc from page.

I have tested Clixpy on my website and works great. Even clicks to external hyperlinks would be displayed in a new window! Play captured sessions is not available for IE6, so use a higher brower (Chrome 2.0 works perfect). Capturing users with IE6 works without any problem! Conclusion: fantastic usability visualisation tool!
